What's going on around Clevedon
Clevedon nestles in the village of Ben Rhydding, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales and just two miles from Ilkley. The village has a number of local shops and its own railway station, with regular trains to Leeds and Bradford.
Ilkley's reputation as a spa town peaked in the 19th century, when the village of Wheatley was renamed Ben Rhydding to mark the opening of a nearby hydropathic establishment. Although the ‘hydro' is long gone, the name – apparently the old name for the hillside – still remains.
Ilkley has retained much of its striking Victorian architecture, making it a popular tourist destination, while the surrounding countryside attracts outdoor enthusiasts. The resulting combination is a town that offers high-class shopping, fantastic restaurants and exceptional scenery. Take a stroll on Ilkley Moor, visit the museum and art gallery at the Manor House or wander through the maze in Darwin Gardens. Wherever you go you're sure to receive a warm Yorkshire welcome!
