The Heart of Kent Hospice will be running ‘Make a Will Week’ from Monday 10th May until Friday 14th May 2010, offering professionally written standard or mirror wills free of charge, in return for a donation to the Hospice.
The campaign aims to educate people about the importance of writing a will, irrespective of your age. If you own a property, are married or co-habiting, have children, dependants or even pets that will require care when you die, you need to have a will.
‘Make a Will Week’ is being sponsored by local retirement village Audley Mote House, part of the Audley Group. The company recently commissioned independent research* which found that 25 per cent of those aged 65 and over don’t have a will and one in ten people haven’t got around to making one or prefer not to think about it at all.
Nimisha Cross, Community Relations Manager said: “Audley Mote House is a proud supporter of the Heart of Kent Hospice and is looking forward to sponsoring ‘Make A Will’ week. Our own findings discovered that pensioners think the greatest danger in not having a will is the family arguments which could break out over their estate (35 per cent) or that the government may take everything, leaving nothing for their family (23 per cent). This promotional campaign illustrates the perfect solution and we advise early booking as spaces go very quickly.”
Once you have decided which of the participating solicitors you would like to write your standard or mirror will, simply call their office to make an initial appointment. There is no fee for your will, but in return, please make a donation to The Heart of Kent Hospice of £50 or 50 per cent of the fee (whichever is the greater). Appointments are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
