Luxury retirement villages built on 25 years' experience

At Audley, we've been building and managing luxury retirement villages for over 10 years, but our experience in providing high quality accommodation and care for older people goes back much further.

In fact, it was in 1983 that our present day Chief Executive Nick Sanderson founded a company called Beaumont - which, over time, developed the conventional care home concept into something completely different, the UK's very first retirement villages.

Stable, successful, well supported

Twenty-five years on, Audley has grown to be a successful company. Our solid foundations and innovative thinking underlined by the backing we have received from major financial organisations, including Private Patients Plan, 3i and, most recently, Moorfield Group.

Our retirement villages: the story so far

We opened our first retirement villages at Willicombe Park in Tunbridge Wells, and Hollins Hall in Harrogate, back in 2000.

Despite the fact that few people at that time understood what a retirement village actually offered, the idea very quickly caught on, with Willicombe Park winning a prestigious Best Retirement Property award, as well as conservation awards for the refurbishment of the Victorian mansion at the centre of the scheme.

All the houses, cottages and apartments at both Willicombe Park and Hollins Hall were soon sold, and today both villages are happy and thriving communities, with any properties that come on the market being snapped up by those on the waiting list, eager to enjoy the Audley way of life.

Currently, with significant financial support from our investors the Moorfield Group, we are pushing ahead with our plans to build further luxury retirement villages at various locations across the UK.

Our wider responsibilities

At Audley, we take our wider responsibilities seriously, freely sharing the knowledge and experience we have acquired over the last 25 years.

Our senior managers are deeply involved in policy-making, working with organisations as diverse as the Department of Health, the Royal College of Nursing, the Elderly Accommodation Council and the UK Home Carers' Association.

In addition, Audley is a founder member the Association of Retirement Village Operators UK (ARVOUK).
