Nick Sanderson, Chairman of the Association of Retirement Village Operators UK (“ARVOUK”) said:

“We congratulate the BBC for shining a spotlight on a demographic long ignored by society at large. Despite estimates that by 2030 a quarter of the population will be over the age of 65, this group are often marginalised and misunderstood.

“Our overriding objective is to make those in later life aware of the options available for a rewarding retirement whereby they can retain their independence but receive care on a flexible basis in their own home. While this understanding will sadly come too late for some, we must focus on helping current and future generations of older people to remain in control of their futures and well-being.”
