- The Rt. Hon. Patrick McLoughlin MP attends opening ceremony of Robinson Court

Robinson Court, the newest phase of development at Audley St. Elphin’s Park, officially opened its doors on Thursday 30 May 2013.

The event was hosted by Nick Sanderson, Chief Executive of Audley Retirement and attended by the Rt. Honourable Patrick McLoughlin, MP for Derbyshire Dales. Mr McLoughlin, who has represented the constituency in Parliament since 1986, officially opened the new building and marked the occasion with a speech celebrating the investment that Audley has brought to the area.

Further VIP guests at the ceremony included the Derbyshire High Sheriff, Mr Derek Mapp, Mayor of Darley Dale, Ian Walker and Councillors Jacque Bevan, Garry Purdy and Lewis Rose.

The development at Robinson Court offers 20 beautiful, high quality one and two bedroom apartments for older people, which will further add to the already thriving community at St. Elphin’s Park. The apartments have been built to complement the heritage charm of St. Elphin’s House, which is steeped in local history, having started life as a private residence before being home to a well-known and much loved girl’s boarding school.

The Audley Club which is situated in the restored former school house is home to the Orangery restaurant and elegant Bar/Bistro. A swimming pool and health and wellbeing centre is also available to those who live in the village, including Robinson Court, as well as members from the local community.

Nick Sanderson, CEO Audley Retirement, said: “Today marks another exciting stage in the development of St. Elphin’s Park with the opening of Robinson Court. We look forward to welcoming new residents to the village to enjoy their retirement on their own terms and in a vibrant community. It marks another significant milestone in the development of the Audley model of retirement living which focuses on providing choice for older people.”

Rt. Hon Patrick McLoughlin MP commented: “Having followed the progress of Audley St. Elphin’s Park it was wonderful to see the main house open last year, and for further developments such as Robinson Court to be added to the beautiful site. It’s fantastic to see the site restored so sympathetically and with such care. It has also been great to see the local community embrace the opportunity to eat at the marvellous restaurant and take membership to the Audley Club. We have a rapidly ageing population in the UK and it is alternative solutions such as the Audley proposition that are meeting the challenge of providing independent and quality later life housing. It is a pleasure to open the new development at Robinson Court.”

Audley Retirement Villages enables those that live there to enjoy an independent and healthy retirement in homes that they own and as part of a like-minded community.  They enjoy full access to the Audley Club and its range of facilities with flexible care and support available should it become necessary. The first Audley Village opened in Tunbridge Wells in 2000. Audley Retirement now has nine sites in various stages of development.
